Brighton Memorial Library Renovations
Brighton Memorial Library Improvements Enhance Patron Experience
The Brighton Memorial Library teamed up with LaBella to redesign and enhance select areas of the existing library. The library last underwent renovations and reorganization in 1998 . Since then, little had changed, and the library needed an updated floor plan to address current and future operations.
The current library is separated into two main areas: the public access area, which houses all library stacks, public computers, reading and study spaces, reference and circulation desks, and toilets; and the staff work space, which contains all staff offices, work spaces, a break room, a conference room, IT equipment and other storage space, and toilets. The staff work area is primarily located at the rear of the building and separated from the public areas.
It was expressed that both areas needed renovation and redesign with regard to select building operations. Major parts of the design process that ensured a successful project included on-site observation of patron use of the facility, space planning, and finish details and materials selections.
