Hanover Square Circulation Study
Enhancing Mobility and Safety for a Thriving, Pedestrian-Friendly Future
The Village’s Hanover Square district is ripe with growth opportunities; however, people sometimes avoid Hanover Square because the 5-legged intersection can be confusing for drivers and sometimes difficult, dangerous or otherwise unappealing for pedestrians and bicyclists.
The Circulation Study identifies specific solutions to improve mobility and safety for all users of the local transportation system. The study focuses on the circulation and safety of vehicles, pedestrians and bicycles in Hanover Square, assesses existing conditions, and proposes a range of design and regulatory improvements to benefit all users of the district. The study aligns with the goals of the Village Comprehensive Plan to ensure a pedestrian friendly environment, enhance network connectivity, improve safety and accessibility, be compatible with all modes of transportation, and meet ADA requirements. Additionally, the study identified Tactical Urbanism strategies for aesthetic enhancements to the district area.
