Hydro Facilities Assessment Projects

The Utility Company owns and operates nine active hydropower plants in New York State. Three are located in Rochester, NY on the Genesee River, four on the Saranac River, one on the Hudson River, and one on the Ausable River. All hydropower facilities generally consist of intake works, water conveyance/penstock, and powerhouse. The Utility Company’s initiative was to capture the current asset inventory and assessment of the entire facility with a comprehensive inspection and report.

LaBella provided professional engineering services for field visits to each of the facilities, observed and documented current conditions, made recommendations, and provided the Utility Company with a comprehensive written report. LaBella observed the generating equipment, structural materials, electrical conduits/equipment, mechanical systems, and overall operating components of each building.
