Ulster County Area Transit PV System

Installing Green Energy Initiatives to Boost EV Fleet

The Ulster County Area Transit is interested in improving the energy efficiency of its transportation fleet and has engaged with the New York State Power Authority (NYPA) and LaBella Associates to design a new PV, generator, and electric bus charging infrastructure at 1 Danny Circle in Kingston, New York. The project is intended to reduce overall emissions, minimize electricity costs for their EV fleet, and improve facility operations and serviceability. This project will be delivered in accordance with NYPA’s Energy Services Statewide program.

The design includes the installation of a new 204kW PV array to provide clean power to support Ulster County’s transition to an all-electric bus fleet. As part of this project, a new 150kW power cabinet and nine dispensers for bus charging will be installed. In addition, the installation of an emergency 400kW generator is included to ensure Ulster County can continue to support a fleet of up to 15 vehicles during grid outages.
