Derik has over eight years of planning experience with a range of work which includes: business development & downtown revitalization, municipal comprehensive planning, smart growth/new urbanism, and agricultural & farmland protection. Derik joined the LaBella team in October of 2019 and is currently working on projects which involve the Batavia City Centre Mall Revitalization Study, the Bethlehem Steel-Woodlawn Beach Shoreline Trail Extension, and the Buffalo East Side Commercial District Program. He has a master’s degree in Urban Planning with a specialization in economic and international development from the University at Buffalo, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Canisius College.
