Jesse Vogl, AICP, LaBella’s Principal Transportation Planner, will be speaking at the 2025 Local Government Conference, hosted by the New York State Tug Hill Commission on March 31-April 1, 2025, in Verona, New York. The commission is a regional state agency that provides technical assistance and training to the 41 towns and 18 villages in portions of Jefferson, Lewis, Oneida, and Oswego counties. Its annual Local Government Conference attracts over 600 attendees and more than 25 exhibitors, offering training and networking opportunities for municipal leaders, board members, and other government officials.

On Tuesday, April 1st at 1:15 p.m., Jesse will present “Speed Limit Reductions: How to Establish Safe Speeds in Your Community,” discussing recent changes in New York State legislation that allow municipalities to lower area-wide speed limits to 25 mph and the engineering studies required for implementation. Jesse will also cover federal, state, and local guidance and best practices, speed limit study methodologies, signing requirements, and additional traffic-calming measures that can complement speed reductions to improve roadway safety for all users.
