Several LaBella team members will be presenting at the 2025 Annual Conference of the New York State Chapter of the American Public Works Association, taking place March 20-21, 2025, in Utica, New York.

On Thursday, March 20th at 9:00 a.m., join LaBella’s Principal Transportation Planner, Jesse Vogl, AICP, for his presentation on “Speed Limit Reductions: How to Establish Safe Speeds in Your Community.” The session will explore New York State’s recent legislation allowing municipalities to lower area-wide speed limits to 25 mph and the engineering studies required to implement them. Jesse will also cover federal, state, and local guidance and best practices, speed limit study methodologies, signing requirements, and additional traffic-calming measures to enhance roadway safety for all users.

On Thursday, March 20th at 3:00 p.m., Senior Civil Engineer Pierre Brissette, PE, LEED AP, and Civil Engineer Alyssa Burnell, EIT, will present “Town of Wawarsing, NY: The Race for Clean Water.” This presentation will discuss the discovery of leaks in the Rondout West Branch Tunnel of the NYC Delaware Aqueduct, their impact on private wells in Wawarsing, and the urgent need for an alternative water source. Pierre and Alyssa will also highlight LaBella’s role in identifying a viable aquifer and designing a complete water distribution system to support affected residents before aqueduct repairs could proceed.
