Ribbon Cutting Marks Completion of West Side Homes in Buffalo, New York
LaBella, Architect of Record, celebrates the construction of 49 new, energy-efficient homes.
On September 30, 2025, LaBella joined PUSH (People United for Sustainable Housing) Buffalo and Buffalo Neighborhood Stabilization Company Inc. (BNSC) to celebrate the official ribbon cutting of the West Side Homes affordable housing development in Buffalo, New York.
Led by BNSC, the $21 million residential development provides 49 homes on sites selected through a planning process conducted with residents to identify areas suitable for energy-efficient affordable housing.
Spread across 17 sites, the project includes two renovated buildings and 14 newly constructed homes. Sixteen of the homes are apartments for residents in need of supportive housing, while the remaining units are available to households earning at or below 50 percent of the Area Median Income.

Blending affordability with sustainability, the West Side Homes development meets the standards of several high-performance building programs, including Passive House Institute US (Phius), Enterprise Green Communities, the WELL Building Standard, ENERGY STAR, the U.S. Department of Energy Zero Energy Ready Home, and EPA Indoor AirPlus. The project also satisfies performance requirements for the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA) Buildings of Excellence Competition and the New Construction-Housing Program.
LaBella is proud to have served as Architect of Record on this project.
Congratulations to PUSH, BNSC, and the Buffalo community on this important contribution to creating affordable, sustainable, and resilient housing in our local communities!
