Upcoming AIA NYS Professional Development Webinar to Feature Wendy Talarico
LaBella’s Senior Building Code Consultant Wendy Talarico, LEED AP, NYS CEO, will present a webinar as part of the American Institute of Architects New York State’s Professional Development Program on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 12:00 p.m.
Titled “10 Strategic Ways to Make Schools Cool,” this webinar will highlight practical, low-cost, and low-energy solutions that can help school districts comply with New York State requirements to maintain safe indoor temperatures for students and staff as extreme heat events become more frequent and severe.
Wendy will explore building envelope strategies, including improved insulation, reduced air leakage, and thoughtful daylight and window management, and explain when mechanical cooling upgrades—such as new HVAC systems or enhanced ventilation—may be necessary. Case studies will demonstrate how these measures support student comfort, health, and learning outcomes while aligning with district budget and sustainability goals.
