Stever’s Candies, an iconic confectioner in the heart of Rochester’s Park Avenue district, selected LaBella to collaborate on an outdoor renovation aimed at enhancing both accessibility and aesthetic appeal. The project focused on revitalizing the shop’s outdoor space while preserving its timeless charm, creating an inviting and accessible environment for the community to enjoy.

LaBella provided conceptual design, construction documents, permitting, and construction administration services, ensuring that all technical and regulatory requirements were met. Key renovations included updated signage, outdoor seating, a natural stone patio, and new fencing and brick retaining walls—carefully designed to complement the shop’s historic character while introducing contemporary elements.

Updated Signage & Outdoor Seating

Stever’s Candies’ new signage serves as a welcoming landmark for both locals and visitors. Designed to reflect the brand’s heritage, it complements the store’s traditional aesthetics while incorporating a contemporary touch. Additionally, outdoor seating was added to create comfortable spaces for guests to enjoy their treats and take in the vibrant Park Avenue atmosphere. Each element was carefully curated to extend Stever’s Candies’ unique experience into the outdoor space.

Natural Stone Patio, Fencing, & Brick Retaining Walls

A new natural stone patio elevates the outdoor ambiance, providing a solid foundation for seating areas and encouraging patrons to stay and enjoy the space longer. New fencing and brick retaining walls were crafted to mirror the building’s classic architecture, seamlessly blending with the original structure while adding definition and character to the outdoor space. This cohesive design pays tribute to Stever’s Candies’ long-standing presence in the neighborhood, connecting its rich past with the present.

Atmospheric Lighting & ADA Accessibility

String lights suspended above the patio create a warm, inviting glow in the evenings, extending Stever’s Candies’ welcoming atmosphere into the night. An ADA-accessible ramp was also added to provide easy access for all visitors. Prioritizing accessibility in this project ensures Stever’s Candies remains an inclusive destination for all.
