Eastside Family YMCA Expansion

Where Wellness Meets Community

The Eastside YMCA, built in 2007, is one of the largest suburban branches of the Greater Rochester YMCA. Its recent expansion brought exciting new features, including an auxiliary gym, a sports performance center, a spin theatre, flexible community spaces, and a larger teen center. Of the building’s 33,000 sq. ft., 8,500 sq. ft. are dedicated to a medical wellness center run by the University of Rochester Medical Center, complete with its own lobby and office space. LaBella played a key role in this project, providing design, planning, and engineering services to create a welcoming and functional space for all.

Fitness, Wellness, and Community

This two-story expansion will enhance the YMCA’s offerings with a range of new programs, including specialized senior services. The addition features a state-of-the-art spinning theatre for bicycle exercise, a group exercise studio, expanded wellness areas for cardio fitness and stretching, and dedicated spaces for chronic disease prevention initiatives.

The new facility also includes a youth and family gymnasium, as well as a cutting-edge sports performance center. Highlights of this center include a short four-lane track, turf and free weight areas designed for agility and speed training, and massage rooms for recovery and relaxation.
