Catholic Health LIFE PACE Adult Day Center at D’Youville

Breathing New "LIFE" Into Adult Day Centers

Catholic Health—one of the largest healthcare providers in Western New York—offers senior care programs, including the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), housed under its Living Independently for Elders (LIFE) division.

On the D’Youville University campus in Buffalo, NY, a 9,500-square-foot leased space was recently renovated to establish the newest Catholic Health LIFE PACE Adult Day Center. The Center—designed to provide a welcoming and deinstitutionalized environment—offers on-site socialization, social services, personal care services, therapeutic recreation, transportation, and meals. The collaboration with D’Youville University highlights a shared mission of serving the community and training future healthcare leaders.

LaBella provided architectural and interior design services, as well as civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering services for the renovation. The new day center features adult day care rooms, accessible and supportive restrooms and showers, a dining hall, and a community living space. Offices, conference rooms, and breakrooms provide dedicated space for staff. Exterior improvements include an entry canopy over a wide accessible ramp, a patio, safety bollards, and landscaping.

The space boasts a large community room with fireplaces and televisions, a welcoming patio, and abundant natural light—conveying an atmosphere reminiscent of home.
