Designed From Every Angle
While designed to function as a flexible and modern wedding venue, the garden also pays homage to the property’s past. Drawing inspiration from the farmhouse and using historical period context cues, the design team developed a structured garden reminiscent of those found on farms and estates in colonial America.
The garden was designed with formal structure around the central cottage. It stretches from an apple orchard at one end to a cherry grove, lawn, and arbor at the other. Each of these spaces creates distinct venues within the larger garden. A circular opening within the apple orchard carves out a space for ceremonies. Farm beds give guests space to mill about. An allée of cherry blossom trees establishes a wedding aisle leading to the arbor. A wall of white hydrangea lines the gardens, blooming in mid-summer. A stone wall separates the gardens from the driveway.
The space is designed to provide an intentional viewpoint from every entry to the garden.
