LaBella Presenting and Participating in Brownfield Site Tour at TENSOS

LaBella’s Environmental Engineer Jared Pristach, PE, and Tennessee Investigation and Remediation Program Manager Johanna Heywood, PE, PG, will be sharing their expertise at the upcoming Tennessee Environmental Network Show of the South (TENSOS), scheduled for May 14-16, 2025, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. TENSOS serves as the premier platform for environmental education, collaboration, and leadership in the Southeast—bringing together professionals across diverse industries to advance sustainability through learning and shared knowledge.

Thursday, May 15th, at 4:30 p.m.
Join Jared for his presentation, “Engineering Solutions for Climate Hazard Adaptation,” which will explore how communities in the Southeastern U.S. can better prepare for increasingly severe climate impacts through a combination of mitigation and adaptation strategies. Drawing on LaBella’s work with partner-clients in the wake of Hurricane Helene’s historic 2024 flooding, the presentation will feature case studies highlighting engineering solutions such as flood modeling, hazard mitigation planning, resilient infrastructure design, and shoreline stabilization.

Friday, May 16th, at 9:15 a.m.
Johanna will join the Chattanooga Brownfield bus tour, hosted by TENSOS Steering Committee members, project managers from the Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation’s Division of Remediation, and local brownfield redevelopment experts, including environmental attorneys. The tour will visit the former U.S. Pipe and Foundry site—future home of the Chattanooga Lookouts Stadium and several other exciting development projects. Panelists will discuss legal considerations related to site development and soil management, including applicable waste regulations, brownfield voluntary agreements, and land use restrictions.
