LaBella Wins Best Original Design Award at 2025 CANstruction Rochester Awards Ceremony

Nearly 4,000 cans of potatoes, corn, peas, green beans, and tomatoes donated to Foodlink.

For the 16th year in a row, LaBella’s Rochester team ascended to the winner’s circle at the 2025 CANstruction Rochester competition and donated nearly 4,000 canned food items to Foodlink!

This year’s theme, Cosmic Conquest: Rise of the Cans, featured all things Sci-Fi. Taking inspiration from the stellar Disney/Pixar movie “Wall-E”, LaBella’s team worked methodically to design and build the robot, Wall-E, using around 4,000 cans of potatoes, corn, peas, green beans, and tomatoes.

The exhibit was on display from October 12th through October 25th at the Strong Museum of Play, where visitors viewed and voted on their favorite structures for the People’s Choice title. Teams were judged on Best Original Design, Best Use of Labels, Best Meal, Most Cans, and Honorable Mention.

LaBella’s structure received the Best Original Design Award for utilizing engineering and architectural principles to overcome design challenges. Congratulations to the entire team!
