LaBella’s Structural Engineer Jeff Wackowski, PE, will deliver two presentations at the Northeast Regional Conference of the Association of State Dam Safety Officials, taking place May 18–20, 2026, in Buffalo, New York.
On Tuesday, May 19 at 10:30 a.m., Jeff will present “The Fall Protection Cable That Changed a Dam: How a Simple Safety Upgrade Sparked Major Improvements” alongside Todd Mueller, PE, of Colliers Engineering & Design. The session will highlight how a fall protection cable upgrade evolved into a multi-year dam rehabilitation effort, involving structural improvements, an expanded project scope, and collaborative problem-solving in the field.
Jeff will return on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. to present “New Heights and Unknown Depths: Anchoring a 150-Year-Old Wall for Modern Floods” with Todd Mueller. The session will explore the challenges of rehabilitating a historic dam structure, including raising a masonry wall to meet modern flood requirements amid variable site conditions and limited historical documentation.
