Brent Watson to Discuss Lithium Battery Safety at 2026 Heartland Conference Hosted by the NWRA Oklahoma Chapter
LaBella Senior Technical Advisor Brent Watson, CPM, will present at the 2026 Heartland Conference, September 23-24 in Monkey Island, Oklahoma. Hosted by the Oklahoma Chapter of the National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA), the conference brings together waste and recycling professionals for industry education and networking.
On Thursday, September 24, at 8:00 a.m., Brent will lead an education session titled “Dealing with Lithium Batteries.” The session will address the safety risks lithium batteries can pose to waste management operations, covering:
- Common battery chemistries in use today
- Hazards batteries present to waste management infrastructure
- Emergency response and first aid procedures for releases, fires, or explosions associated with damaged, defective, or recalled lithium batteries
