Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Greece Police Headquarters

Yesterday saw a brisk groundbreaking ceremony at the site of the new Greece Police Headquarters on the Greece Town Campus on Vince Tofany Boulevard! Project stakeholders gathered in light flurries to celebrate the new, state-of-the-art facility soon to be under construction. Town Supervisor Bill Reilich, Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo, and Police Chief Patrick Phelan spoke about this exciting and long-awaited project.

The new police headquarters building is slated to be a two-story, 28,000 sq. ft. steel and masonry structure with a brick veneer. The front façade will have a Greek Revival concept with four two-story-tall, round columns supporting a pediment over an arched entrance system. The first floor plan will include an inviting entrance lobby with historic Greece Police images, a command center and training room, updated staff services area, a modern laboratory with new technical service offices, a large evidence/property storage room with high-density storage units, a two-car evidence garage with a hydraulic lift, a roll call room, large men’s and women’s locker rooms with modern lockers, and a seven-cell booking area with a four-car sally port. The second floor will consist of administrative offices, criminal investigation offices, the quartermaster office, armory, and interview rooms.

In addition to the new headquarters, the existing courthouse building will be provided with a new, single-car sally port to provide secure transfer of arrestees to the courthouse, as well as an enclosed secure parking garage for the judges.

Construction is estimated to be complete in early 2017.
