716 Sports Complex Breaks Ground in Amherst, New York

Phase 1 of the 331,000-square-foot multi-use sports and entertainment complex is expected to open in spring 2027.

On August 31, 2026, the 716 Sports Complex broke ground, marking the next step in bringing a substantial recreational community hub to Amherst, New York.

Located on a 21.3-acre site, the two-phase, $50 million project will create a 331,000-square-foot, multi-use sports and entertainment destination offering year-round opportunities for sports, training, recreation, and other events. The complex will feature two turf fields, six basketball courts, 12 volleyball courts, and 24 pickleball courts, along with batting cages, a workout area, and more.

Phase 1 is expected to be completed in spring 2027 and will include a turf and field dome and a two-story entertainment center, which will include amenities such as locker rooms, retail and restaurant space, an arcade, and simulators for golf, duckpin bowling, and pickleball.

Anticipated to be completed by early 2028, phase 2 will include a second dome that will house a 200-meter indoor track and expanded infield space. A hotel is also planned near the complex, with construction expected to begin in spring 2027.

LaBella is proud to serve as the lead designer for the project, with Advancing Revolutionary Construction providing construction management services. KemperSports, which operates dozens of sports venues nationwide, is set to manage the facility and brings experience in entertainment and food and beverage operations.
