Daniel Brooks Presenting at the 2026 VRA/SWANA Annual Conference
LaBella’s Sustainability Manager Daniel Brooks, AHMM®, will be speaking at the 2026 VRA/SWANA Annual Conference taking place April 8–10, 2026, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The event is co-hosted by the Virginia Recycling Association (VRA) and the Old Dominion Chapter of the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA).
On Friday, April 10, at 10:15 a.m., Daniel will present “Lithium Battery Safety,” which will provide an overview of basic battery chemistries, types, and how they differ. The session will also cover key battery hazards such as short-circuiting and thermal runaway, along with how to recognize signs of damaged, defective, or recalled (DDR) batteries. In addition, attendees will gain insight into training requirements, emergency response, and first aid procedures necessary to ensure personnel safety in the event of a release, fire, or exposure.
