Celebrating Alyssa Burnell receiving her professional engineering license!

Please join us in congratulating Alyssa Burnell on achieving her professional engineering licensure!
Alyssa began her career at LaBella as an intern in 2018 while earning her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from Syracuse University. Upon graduating, she joined our Poughkeepsie, New York office full-time as a Civil Engineer supporting municipal projects. Her primary focus is on water and wastewater systems, including water supply and distribution, water treatment facilities, grading and drainage, and sanitary sewer collection systems. She also has experience in pipeline construction techniques such as horizontal directional drilling and open trenching.
Since her time as an intern, Alyssa has worked with the Wawarsing Water District of more than seven years. To date, she has assisted in the design and drafting for eight miles of water distribution mains, a water treatment facility, and a 500,000-gallon water storage tank. She has also coordinated water service line placement with approximately 190 private property owners and provided construction administration throughout all phases. This past March, her extensive knowledge of the Wawarsing Water District led her to present on its components at the American Public Works Association New York State Chapter’s Annual Conference in Utica, New York.
“I am thrilled to celebrate with Alyssa in achieving her Professional Engineer license. It is a milestone that reflects not only her incredible technical expertise but also her dedication to excellence and growth in her career. Alyssa brings thoughtfulness, precision, and creativity to every project she takes on, and her commitment to mentoring younger staff and interns has made a lasting impact on our team. Her willingness to share her knowledge, encourage others, and lead by example truly sets her apart. Congratulations, Alyssa, your hard work and passion inspire us all!” – John Szarowski, PE, CPESC, CPSWQ, CPMSM, LEED-AP | Senior Civil Engineer
