LaBella’s Senor Mechanical Engineer Craig Davis and Mechanical Engineer Joelle Taliento will be presenting at the October Monthly Meeting of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Twin Towers Chapter, taking place on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, in Ithaca, New York.

Join Craig and Joelle on October 15th at 5 p.m., along with Travis Fisher, Project Director at Cornell University, for their presentation titled “Cornell Child Care Center: Geothermal Retrofit for Electrification.” The presentation will cover key aspects of the ongoing HVAC system and roof replacement program at the Cornell Child Care Center, including the impacts of value engineering, the use of a shallow-well geothermal system, and the unique challenges of working with a sensitive client.

The project involves complete replacement of the existing gas-fired rooftop air handling system with a new electric shallow-well geothermal ground source heat pump system for heating and cooling. This upgrade aims to deliver reliable, efficient climate control for both children and staff while enhancing the care environment through the use of a state-of-the-art control system to manage indoor heating and cooling conditions.
