
The New York State Association of Transportation Engineers (NYSATE) Section 4 (Rochester, New York) recently named Lorenzo Rotoli, PE, PTOE, 2026 Transportation Professional of the Year!
Lorenzo is a Vice President and Senior Project Engineer in LaBella’s Rochester, New York, office. A licensed Professional Engineer and certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) with more than 38 years of experience, he is adept in traffic forecasting, systemic and isolated capacity analysis, safety investigation, accident analysis, signal system analysis, interchange analysis, and traffic impact studies.
Lorenzo’s experience includes unique and transformational projects such as New York’s first Diverging Diamond Interchange at I-590/Winton Road in Rochester, the original I-490/I-590 (“Can of Worms”) Interchange Reconstruction in Rochester, and the World Trade Center Dey Street project in New York City.
A testament to his expertise, Lorenzo has instructed over 100 courses at professional conferences, as well as the PTOE Examination Refresher Course. In addition to NYSATE, he is a member and former board member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers and the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), as well as a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Lorenzo also served as the ACEC Chairperson for a high school STEM shadow program.
NYSATE is a non-profit professional organization dedicated to advancing the science and profession of transportation engineering. The Transportation Professional of the Year Award recognizes a NYSATE Section 4 member who exemplifies professionalism in the field of transportation engineering and engages in community, civic, and NYSATE activities.
Lorenzo was honored at the NYSATE Section 4 Annual Lunch on November 20, 2025, in Rochester, New York.
