New Athletic Facilities Elevate the Student Athlete Experience at Davidson College

Davidson College’s newest stadium is located on a green-field site nestled between existing outdoor athletic facilities and student housing. By locating the new stadium and field house between existing field hockey, baseball, golf, intramural, and practice facilities, a primary goal of the project to expand and improve player development for all student athletes was achieved.

The 54,000-square-foot stadium has a synthetic turf playing surface, allowing both the Wildcat football and lacrosse teams to play and practice. The 5,000-seat capacity venue features concrete on-slab tiered seating as well as grass-berm seating areas for a variety of fan experiences. The continuous walkable concourse wraps around in a horseshoe configuration, with concessions and fan support facilities distributed throughout. The south endzone features a state-of-the-art video scoreboard programmed with the ability for live in-game video replay and integrated fan experience graphics.

The three-story, 12,000-square-foot Game Changers Field House along the west concourse establishes a new home for all student athletes. In addition to home team locker rooms and football offices, expanded and enhanced sports performance and sports medicine facilities anchor the ground floor of the new Field House. Furthermore, the well-stocked fueling station located on the main circulation route into the weight room provides student athletes with easy access to healthy grab-and-go nutrition between workouts, recovery sessions, and classes. A smaller, two-story field house serves the east concourse and houses multiple program areas to meet the current and future needs of Wildcat student athletes.
