A Replicable Retrofit Model for Electrifying Multifamily Buildings

NYSERDA’s Empire Building Challenge (EBC) is a public-private partnership between NYSERDA and real estate owners that challenges design teams to deliver low-carbon retrofits in New York.

Selected as a winning team in the third cohort, LaBella partnered with Chartered Properties and Sunamp Optimized Thermal Systems to develop a blueprint that property owners and developers across New York State can use to accelerate decarbonization in multifamily housing.

ENR East recently featured “A Replicable Retrofit Model for Electrifying Multifamily Buildings,” an article by LaBella’s Senior Mechanical Engineer and Team Leader, Dana Adiguzel. In the piece, Adiguzel outlines an approach to integrating scalable electrification and thermal storage solutions that can be replicated across New York’s aging housing stock.
