LaBella to Present at the Capital District Regional Planning Commission’s Annual Planning and Zoning Workshop
LaBella’s Senior Planner Matthew G. Rogers and Planner Mirren Galway will present “Unlocking Housing Choices” at the Capital District Regional Planning Commission’s Annual Planning and Zoning Workshop on Friday, October 23, 2026, in Troy, New York.
Scheduled for 3:00 p.m., the presentation will offer practical strategies that planning and zoning board members, local leaders, and community planners can use to update local land use regulations to expand housing opportunities.
Moving beyond a one-size-fits-all approach, Matthew and Mirren will explore a range of regulatory reforms communities can consider, from minor targeted updates and “gentle density measures” to larger-scale overhauls, commercial corridor retrofits, and mixed-use revitalization.
Attendees will also learn effective methods to audit existing land use patterns, evaluate current zoning barriers, and engage residents and stakeholders to build local consensus around housing solutions tailored to their communities.
