Steve Metzger

Throughout my career at LaBella, I have received many opportunities. They were the result of an intentional culture of employee empowerment and client service. Today, I’m proud to be charged with continuity of that culture and to represent the inspiring work of LaBella employees, past and present.

Steve Metzger was appointed Chief Executive Officer of LaBella Associates in 2020.

Steve joined LaBella Associates as a Civil Engineer in 1994 and was appointed Director of Civil Engineering in 2010. Under Steve’s leadership, the firm’s civil engineering team grew to 90 employees, comprising $11 million in revenue. His next role was Chief Operating Officer, where he directed investments in technology and firm infrastructure to support LaBella’s growth in all regions. Steve has previously served as Secretary of the LaBella Board of Directors and chair of the IT, Safety, and Quality Management teams within the organization.

Steve earned a BA in Mathematics from SUNY Potsdam and a BS in Civil Engineering from the University at Buffalo. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the states of New York, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Texas, Maine, and Connecticut. In 2023, he was named as one of Rochester Business Journal’s Power 100 for the third year in a row.

Steve serves on the boards of the Business Council of New York State and Geva Theater, and he maintains the firm’s association with Greater Rochester Enterprise (GRE). Steve is an inaugural and active member of LINC (LaBella in the Community), an employee-led organization that seeks opportunities to participate in charitable community activities.

Additionally, Steve has served on the Victor YMCA Advisory board for 10 years, tutors STEM students in the Rochester City School District, and coaches youth sports. He is an avid cyclist and enjoys spending time with his wife Jenny, children Patrick and Kate, and two dogs in their hometown of Victor, NY.
