The Stadium
Designed for a wide range of users—student-athletes, coaches, trainers, spectators, and the broader community—the multi-use facility supports both daily operations and major events. Its synthetic turf playing surface hosts Wildcats football and lacrosse practices and games.
The 5,000-seat venue combines concrete tiered stands with informal grass berms, offering a variety of fan experiences. A continuous, horseshoe-shaped concourse wraps around the stadium, with concessions and amenities distributed along the route. At the south end zone, a state-of-the-art video scoreboard delivers live replays and dynamic graphics to heighten game-day excitement.
Located along the stadium’s east concourse, a smaller two-story field house addresses long-standing gaps in adjacent athletic venues. It provides training and storage space for field hockey, basketball, golf, and intramural programs, along with public restrooms. Designed as a shared resource for underrepresented teams, the facility also offers flexibility to support future campus growth and evolving student-athlete needs.

Game Changers Field House
Exterior
Situated along the west concourse, the three-story, 54,000-square-foot Game Changers Field House establishes a centralized home base for Davidson’s student-athletes. The facility’s brick and stucco façade blends contemporary and traditional design, while a branded entry tower anchors the complex. The tower features vertical glass panels that fill the interior with natural light and expansive campus views.
First Floor
The first floor features home team locker rooms, football staff offices, and expanded and enhanced sports performance and sports medicine facilities. The sports performance facility was designed collaboratively with Davidson’s athletics staff, featuring a layout based on a circuit strength and conditioning model. The space includes traditional rack modules—versatile strength training stations equipped with weights and bars for exercises such as squats and presses. It also has an indoor artificial turf area for lateral and speed drills, which help athletes improve agility, quick directional movements, and sprinting performance.
High ceilings and large glass windows flood the weight room with daylight—a dramatic improvement over the college’s former subterranean gym—and reflect Davidson’s holistic approach to student-athlete wellness. A fueling station along the main circulation route into the weight room provides easy access to healthy grab-and-go nutrition between workouts, recovery sessions, and classes.
Second Floor
The second floor connects directly to the horseshoe-shaped concourse and features stadium-focused programs such as ticketing, concessions, and restrooms. Wayfinding and environmental graphics were prioritized to give fans clear indicators for points of entry around the venue. Beyond the concourse, at the north end, the grass berm provides casual lawn seating and serves as an area for future expansion.
Third Floor
The third floor houses a student lounge, press box, and coaches’ office suite, which includes a two-story conference room that doubles as a dramatic recruitment space for prospective student-athletes. Anchoring the level, Gallery 18 is a multipurpose space that can function as two 50-person classrooms, host a full-team film study session, or be transformed into a hospitality suite. On game day, the exterior glazing opens to connect spectators visually and audibly to the field. Throughout Gallery 18, displays honoring Davidson alumni who have made meaningful contributions in public service, industry, and other fields celebrate a diversity of life paths and foster cross-generational connection, enhancing the space’s educational and inspirational impact.

Community & Student Impact
Beyond athletics, the complex advances Davidson College’s commitment to inclusivity, accessibility, and holistic student development. By linking previously disconnected parts of campus—including residential, academic, athletic, and parking zones—the facility creates new pedestrian connections and strengthens campus cohesion. Shared multipurpose spaces like Gallery 18 welcome both athletes and the broader community, reinforcing the college’s values of performance, excellence, and connection.
