Tennis & Golf Center
Elevating the Student-Athlete Experience at Rollins College
Rollins College enlisted LaBella Associates to develop design options for a new on-campus tennis and golf center, enhancing facilities for its men’s and women’s tennis and golf programs. Following an extensive evaluation of potential sites—including the existing varsity and Tiedtke tennis courts—the College determined that the varsity courts would need to be removed to make way for the East End Neighborhood, a new residential community set to open in 2026. This decision paved the way for a state-of-the-art athletic facility at the Tiedtke site, designed to meet NCAA championship standards while fostering student-athlete development and community engagement.
LaBella led the architectural design of the new 8,364-square-foot athletic facility, seamlessly integrating it with Rollins College’s signature Mediterranean-style architecture. Topped with a red tile roof, the facility features a breezeway with arched doorways leading to six reconfigured competition courts—three to the east and three to the west. The new tennis courts are constructed with post-tension concrete, ensuring durability and optimal playing conditions. Enhancing the spectator experience, twin covered balconies on the second floor offer an elevated vantage point for up to 56 seated spectators, creating an intimate yet dynamic viewing atmosphere.
Inside, the first floor houses dedicated locker rooms for the men’s and women’s tennis teams, coaches’ offices, a racket stringing room, and an athletic training space to support players during practice and competition. The second floor serves as a premier hub for the College’s golf program, featuring coaches’ offices, a specialized grip room, and secure storage lockers. A highlight of the facility are the two golf simulator rooms, outfitted with cutting-edge technology and the largest simulators available, allowing both the men’s and women’s teams to train simultaneously.
At the heart of the center is the Players’ Lounge, a vibrant gathering space with panoramic views of the courts. Designed to foster camaraderie and academic success, this lounge offers areas for team meetings, match viewing on a large-screen television, unwinding between training sessions, completing coursework, and hosting events. The space will also showcase team memorabilia and trophies, celebrating Rollins College’s storied athletic tradition.
